If your automobile windshield has a crack or has been broken beyond repair, then you'll likely want to get it fixed right away. Cracks leave a windshield more susceptible to larger, harder to fix cracks, along with all the dangers that come with a glass shield that's increasingly fragile. DIY Fixes

Small cracks and chips can sometimes be handled with various DIY kits available for purchase online or in hardware stores. These kits seal the crack by allowing resin or epoxy to seep into the crack and harden. It's important to note that you'll most likely need to clean any chips or dents from debris or dirt before you seal the crack, or else the resin will seal said dirt with the glass. Additionally, you may have to scrape off extra resin and epoxy after you've sealed the deal to prevent unsightly bumps.

It's also important to note that not every cracked windshield can be fixed with a DIY kit. These kits are not meant for windshields that need major repairs or cracks that are too long or too deep. The second way (and possibly the best way) to get windshield repair for your car is to hire a professional windshield service. These services will replace your windshield entirely with a new one meant for your car. It is technically possible to replace your own windshield, but it's generally not worth it — windshields are difficult to replace without damaging the car or the new windshield, and it's best left to a professional. Additionally, it can be difficult to find a windshield that matches your car's make and model, whereas professional glass services may already have the right windshield in stock or otherwise have a better ability to order it.

Make sure to find a windshield service that knows what they're doing rather than the cheapest one available. Improperly installed windshields can be expensive at best and dangerous at worst, so it's worth the extra money to find a technician that won't cut corners.
